
Maintenance & General Care
Routine Prosthetic Cleaning & Socket Evaluation is recommended every 6 months.
Prosthetic Replacement is recommended after 5 years of wear. Replacement is also recommended following any significant change of the eye socket
Cleaning at Home simply rinse the prosthesis with saline or baby soap and tap water. Never use products containing alcohol or harsh chemicals, doing so will craze and destroy the prosthesis
Placing and Removing an Ocular Prosthesis

Placing without Suction Cup
1) Lift upper eyelid up by placing fingertip on lash line.
2) With other hand, guide top of prosthesis under upper lid.
3) Hold prosthesis in place, release upper lid, and at the same time draw down lower lid while pushing bottom of prosthesis up into place.
4) Release the lower lid and allow prosthesis to settle by blinking

Removing without Suction Cup
1) Using fingertip, press into lower lid margin near nose. ​
2) While pressing, swipe towards ear without stopping and cup other hand near chin - ready to catch.​
Tip: look up while swiping, then down to help the prosthesis out of the socket

Placing with Suction Cup
1) Squeeze suction cup near open end, press evenly against prosthesis to attach.
2) Lift upper eyelid by placing fingertip on lash line.
3) Guide top of prosthesis under upper eyelid.

4) Draw lower lid down to help prosthesis up and over bottom lid, into eye socket.

Removing with Suction Cup
1) Squeeze suction cup near open end, press evenly against iris on prosthesis to attach.

2) Tilt top of prosthesis back and gently draw lower lid down to help prosthesis over bottom lid.
3) Guide prosthesis down and out of eye socket.

Tip: Squeeze suction cup to release suction
STEP 1 Ask your provider to send you an email invite to the OnPatient Portal.
STEP 2 Open the OnPatient invite email, press the “sign up” button and register online.
STEP 3 Download the OnPatient app from the Apple App Store.
STEP 4 Launch the OnPatient app and log in to connect to your provider.
